I transitioned to the Professional Services team and became an implementation consultant for the IBM Kenexa Skills Manager on Cloud application.I immediately faced the challenge of picking up a large upgrade for a major client midway through the project, when the previous consultant left the company. My skills and experience enabled me to successfully bring this project to completion within the original deadline.I have worked with clients in both the public and private sector including Microsoft (US), the British Computer Society, BAE Systems (UK and US divisions), The Environment Agency, The Department for Work and Pensions, and Sony Pictures Entertainment (US). I have excellent stakeholder management skills so I develop close working relationships with my clients. This is evidenced by positive feedback received by account managers, to the point where one client stated that I had saved the relationship.

I became a development team leader for the IBM Kenexa Skills Manager on Cloud application. I successfully managed the workload for a team of between four and six developers, two of whom were based in China. Remotely managing developers in a different culture and time zone presented a number of issues which I successfully resolved through implementing appropriate processes and procedures. I was lead developer for the creation of the application ‘RoleModel’ for the British Computer Society, in this role I was involved in the full lifecycle from original design meetings with the client through development and testing and ultimately to deployment and support. This application enables BCS clients to utilise the BCS SFIAplus competency framework to create job roles, perform competency assessments and plan development activities. I successfully managed this challenging project, keeping it within scope and timescales through changing business requirements.

I was a senior database developer on a SaaS skills management application now known as IBM Kenexa Skills Manager on Cloud. Given my level of experience, I was able to successfully complete complicated development tasks and resolve complex issues assigned to me. I also effectively trained and mentored graduate developers.I was lead developer for an update to the Microsoft Assessment for Organisations product developed for Microsoft. This project entailed attending progress meetings at Microsoft’s US headquarters. My excellent stakeholder management and interpersonal skills ensured these meetings were efficient and productive for all concerned.I also participated in a major project to create an entirely new version of the existing Role Guide application, used internally by Microsoft’s Sales Marketing Services Group Readiness (SMSGR) organisation. My development skills contributed to the successful completion of this project, allowing the 32,000 sales, services, and marketing professionals worldwide to prioritise learning opportunities and create individually tailored training roadmaps, thus improving their performance.

Ridgian is software house with a number of clients particularly in the financial services sector. This role was spent working on site for Barclays Bank on the BI reporting system for their retail banking division. One of my main projects was the revision of the data import process, so a client-based VB application could be moved to a faster and more accurate SQL Server-based application. Both my SQL development and consultancy skills contributed to the successful completion of this project.

NTC-E carries out the design and development of current and future Nissan models for the European market. A primary project was the development and maintenance of a SQL Server database driving a cost management system for new and current models. Initial development was performed by a team of contract and permanent staff. Once live, I took over responsibility for database development and administration. This role allowed me to significantly develop my knowledge and understanding of SQL and database development and administration.Additionally, I managed smaller projects including the selection, implementation and maintenance of internet filtering software and the transfer of data between old and new HR systems.

Interchain provided logistics software and solutions. My position entailed customising the standard product and where necessary developing bespoke solutions to meet clients’ individual needs through the modification of existing code or the development of new code.
