I have a steady employment history working with a population of under served individuals who experience adversity. Through my professional and personal experience thus far, I have become interested in exploring several areas in the field in which I can apply the knowledge & skills I have acquired to continue to help individuals improve through their recovery and empower these individuals to become re-integrated into the community. In my years of working in social services, I have become very culturally competent and have learned to interact with many different kinds of people on many different levels. In addition, I’ve developed and refined other professional skills such as assessing and prioritizing, keeping accurate and organized notes, entering data and running various electronic reports, as well as excellent typing and communication skills – both written and verbal. I’ve also had the responsibility of organizing and facilitating meetings and groups for both clients and staff, as well as navigating through various supportive programs, systems, benefits, and resources. I am an independent, self-starter with a highly professional manner, integrity, and a winning attitude. I demonstrate the ability to provide excellent customer service, including the ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with clients as well as fellow employees. I am a good listener, open-minded, and able to negotiate and compromise when necessary. I can work well alone or with a team, although I prefer team work as it serves as a great motivator for me and I believe it also produces the most successful results. One of the areas in which I was most interested during my experience thus far has been educating people outside the community about the populations we serve & the services we provide as well as how they can help. These skills have also transferred into my personal life as I tend to become very passionate about causes I care about & love to become involved in advocacy.
