The Advisory Committee (ACOM) is responsible for providing scientific advice to competent authorities in support of the sustainable management of marine resources and ecosystems throughout the North Atlantic Ocean. As ACOM vice-chair I work with the Advisory Team in ICES and ACOM to produce high quality fisheries advice and special requests.

WGCSE provides assessments and draft management advice for 39 demersal fish and Nephrops stocks around Ireland (ICES areas VI and VII). WGCSE consists of 25-30 scientist from 9 different fisheries institutes. (previously co-chaired 2009-2010)
