I founded Avoca Publishers as a web based company selling prints and cards into a niche market in the USA. I contracted artists, attended trade fairs, appointed distributors and sales repesentatives; placed articles in the trade press and constantly finetuned our online marketing.I prepared budgets and secured start up grants for Avoca Publishers.

The Folens Group is a family owned Publishing & Printing Group with 130 employees. I led the start up of a greenfield publishing company in London after deciding acquisitions were overpricedI led the research and negotiation of the acquisition of a publishing company in Poland.I negotiated an agreement for the buy out of one of the family shareholders by her siblings.I placed print orders in the far east and in eastern Europe to achieve significant cost savings.I was responsible for the design of new premises for the Irish Publishing company as we split Publishing and Printing into separate companies. I acted as Company Secretary and managed the Group's treasury.

CRH is the largest multinational Irish construction materials company. I prepared a detailed report to set up deep water coal importation facilities to supply Limerick and Platin cement works. The report was used to achieve a large reduction in the price of coal imported from the NCB in the UK without having to make any new investment.I worked with the CRH Europe team to negotiate acquisitions in Germany and Holland.I worked with the Development Director to analyse the Irish timber industry and to examine acquiring Munster and Scariff chipboard plants.I joined the R & D team to develop Solar Heating for houses in Ireland. I was seconded to the Department of Energy to assist with the Dublin Gas conversion project.
