Software Engineer
In this role I create software for navigation systems that are used in the automotive industry. Inone module I analyse navigation information extracted from maps which is then provided to aCAN bus to allow for a vehicle’s electronic control units to adapt, ahead of time, to oncomingroad conditions and traffic situations. In another module, I provide route information to a human machine interface via a RESTFUL interface.
Research Scientist
This was a research and teaching position at the physics department in the University of Augsburg.My theoretical research focused primarily on stochastic processes. In particular, I explored 1) The Brownian motion of coupled particles in confined geometries and 2) Chemotaxis of Artificial Microswimmers in Active Density Waves. My responsibilities included:- Developing mathematical models of these physical problems;- Developing code and carrying out large scale computer simulations;- Analysing the data obtained from the simulations;- Producing scientific reports detailing the findings of these simulations.Acting as a teaching assistant I also gave lectures and regular seminars to undergraduate students in different subjects from theoretical physics. These subjects include Quantum Mechanics, Thermodynamics, and Electrodynamics.

This was a research position in the Nonlinear Dynamics and Time Series analysis group at the Max Planck institute in Dresden.My theoretical research focused primarily on nonlinear and deterministic dynamics. In particular I explored 1) Energy localisation leading to extreme events in spatially extended systems, 2) cooperative effects in systems containing coupled particles and 3) anomalous transport features of single particles. My responsibilities included:- Developing mathematical models of these physical problems;- Developing code and carrying out large scale computer simulations;- Analysing the data obtained from the simulations;- Producing scientific reports detailing the findings of these simulations;- Presenting these findings at local seminars and international conferences.
Teaching Assistant
I taught students at different levels in their undergraduate education in a variety of subjects. The teaching took the form of tutorial lessons, lab sessions, and one-to-one tuition. Details are given below:1) "Introduction to Statistics and Probability" – Tutorial class which considered example questions related to material covered in previous lessons. 2) "Stars and Galaxies" – Computer laboratory sessions which involved assisting students using CLEA (Contemporary Laboratory Experiences in Astronomy) software to determine the apparent and absolute magnitudes of stars in a cluster using photometry.3) "Maths Café" – This is a drop-in centre for students of all disciplines to come and receive one-to-one help for any mathematics related problems. Further responsibilities include the marking of exam scripts and the invigilation of ex-ams.
