Leading a volunteer team of experienced professionals working to create the National Museum and Center for Service (NMCFS.ORG), a first of its kind museum dedicated to honoring and inspiring the American Spirit of Service in all its forms. To be established near the National Mall in Washington DC, the NMCFS will be a vibrant, interactive and experiential place to highlight all the ways Americans serve their communities, the nation and the world.

As a former Member of Congress, clinical psychologist, university president, writer and public speaker, I consult with leading organizations, corporations, academic institutions, government agencies and individuals on communication, science, and policy. Specialty areas include the environment, education, science research and communication, and organizational and individual communication skills training and strategy.

I served as President of Antioch University Seattle from July 2013- April 2015. Part of a nationwide university system with campuses in five locations Antioch Seattle serves approximately 900 students and offers upper division undergraduate degree completion and graduate programs ranging from clinical psychology to education and management. Antioch University provides learner-centered education to empower students with the knowledge and skills to lead meaningful lives and to advance social, economic, and environmental justice. I led Antioch through a period of significant financial challenges and made significant changes in organizational structure, staffing, financial management, marketing and admissions, development and academic program structure and standards..

Established as a new cabinet-level state agency on July 1, 2012, the Washington Student Achievement Council provides strategic planning, oversight, and advocacy to support increased student success and higher levels of educational attainment in Washington.

Develop and implement comprehensive federal, state and local government affairs strategy relating to all aspects of Vigor Industrial's enterprises, including shipbuilding and repair, defense contracts, heavy metal fabrication and others.

Represented Washington state's 3rd Congressional district for 12 years. Served on the House Science and Technology committee - chairing the Energy and Environment, and Research and Education subcommittees. Also served on House Transportation and Infrastructure and House Budget committees.
