After the second year of Aquaticus (of three years, 2017 to 2019), I started working both full time during the summer and part time during the school year. I led our effort for Build Automation / DevOps -- automating builds of MOOS-IvP into public Docker containers and contributed to cross-platform integration tests. I spearheaded the development on the ONR sponsored research project for multi-autonomy systems Integration and extension, namely between MOOS-IvP and SeeByte's Neptune. I also TA for MIT's 2.680 graduate level course on Unmanned Marine Vehicle Autonomy, Sensing and Communications.

Research Assistant Intern at the MIT Charles River Pavilion Lab, running deployments and experiments. I work with Project Aquaticus, which studies human-robot interaction in the form of a marine 'capture the flag' game. Some contributions include a VoIP client for intra-user communication and recording, as well as a mobile app for visualizing live data from participants.

As an Intern on the Datacenter Optimization team, I rewrote major parts of our internal process for provisioning new server capacity. I learned and used Rust for memory-safe and fast microservice workers, and a declarative workflow pipeline suite, resulting in a more scalable and reliable experience for customers and stakeholders.

Working (remotely) with the SRE Scalability team, I developed solutions using Grafana and Prometheus which monitor our fleet of hundreds of sharded machines, ensuring minimum SLA / SLOs are met. I also improved our Terraform and Packer provisioning systems to build ready-to-go AMIs, security roles, and EC2 instances, furthering our efforts to a hybrid-cloud architecture.

Working with a team funded by the EU's INFORE project to integrate our back-seat payload autonomy computer directly to the front-seat controller of a robotic wave-glider. This communications layer is used to deploy long-haul survey missions to a fleet of similar vehicles, and to act as communication modems for acoustic UUVs.

Working with the PegaLabs team, I developed DevOps and automation solutions that allow internal Pega employees to provision and maintain their own instances of the Pega software suite. I used tools such as Jenkins, Packer, and VCenter to automate provisioning and publishing machine images, saving about 200+ man-hours a year. I also deployed an ELK log collection stack to over 1400 machines, serving 800+ users.
