Ug Project Lead At Vt'S Faser Lab
⬧Position: Undergrad. Project Lead at the Field and Space Experimental Robotics (FASER) Lab⬧Developed a high-accuracy classification model trained on synthetic data for robotic detection of damage states in trusses, achieved with Pytorch neural networks as well as Bayesian ensemble methods.⬧Researching further methods to improve classification models for more complex trusses that have expanded feature spaces.
Undergraduate Research Assistant
⬧Position: Undergrad. Research Assistant at the Design, Research, and Education for Additive Manufacturing Systems (DREAMS) Lab⬧Prototyped a rotating and tilting table for use in a 6-axis robotic arm 3D printer, allows for larger prints and more extreme angles, giving the arm 2 more degrees of freedom and up to .02mm angular precision. ⬧Coded GCode parser and stepper driving in Arduino with the MultiStepper and Ethernet library. ⬧Worked on developing lattice structures with 350μm pore size printed w/ castable photopolymers on a Formlabs 1+ for ultra-high-temperature ceramic casting through parameter experimentation.
Summer Researcher
♦ Developed an Omnidirectional depth prediction deep learning model in Pytorch that takes six fisheye camera images and produces a 360° depth map as output in real-time while being over four times as fast as other deep learning methods.♦ Modified a data collection pipeline to support parallelized sampling with docker containers, collecting a synthetic dataset of over 61,000 multiview samples consisting of 8 synthetic panoramas from Unreal Engine 4. This raw dataset was KMeans clustered and condensed to 20,000 diverse samples for training.
Dynamics, System, And Controls Intern
⬧ Developed a functional monocular computer vision pose estimation system for part alignment detection for use in In-Space Assembly(ISA) missions using Mask-RCNN segmentation, ORB keypoint-matching, and homography decomposition.⬧ Informed design decisions surrounding needed camera properties and placement using a simulation environment built during the internship.⬧ Developed a high-accuracy alignment classification system using a monocular camera image as input with a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) trained on synthetic images.
3D Printed 5-Axis Robotic Arm
⬧Designed, modeled, and 3D printed a 6 DOF robotic arm using a Hictop Prusa 3D printer. Uses an Nvidia Jetson Nano for Python-based AI & CV with a Teensy4.0 for low-level controls.⬧After prototyping a 5DOF version, won a grant to continue development of the project to eventually include CV, a 6th axis, state estimation, and AI-driven autonomy.
