Director Of Collegiate Relations | Board Of Directors
Upon graduation from CCSU, I joined the professional Connecticut chapter of the American Marketing Association to head the collegiate relations division and join the board of directors. After joining the board, we identified a number of organizational opportunities that needed heading, including our use of Basecamp, a website redesign, and membership re-engagement. Over the past several months I have headed the effort in revamping these sectors of the organization to establish ourselves as a top professional group in the state of Connecticut.Moving forward as the Director of Collegiate Relationships, I manage all partnerships with collegiate chapters across Connecticut, including CCSU, WCSU, SCSU, and Quinnipiac. We put together volunteer opportunities, networking events, and community outreach initiatives that bring college students and young professionals together with our experienced chapter members to build a foundation for future professionals.
Chapter President
My time as President of Central Marketing Association, CCSU AMA Chapter, featured significant growth and success. Starting from just four members in Spring 2017, I set out to lead this group to new heights. In 2018, the Central Marketing Association attended the AMA International Collegiate Conference in New Orleans for the first time and won a national award for Excellence in Chapter Planning. This was an unexpected but extremely motivating step forward for our organization. In 2019, the CMA returned to the AMAICC and were recognized as a Top 5 Small Collegiate Chapter in the country. We also earned honorable mentions for our Outstanding Marketing Week and Regional Conference events. After returning, our organization was recognized as the 2019 Student Organization of the Year by Central Connecticut State University. We launched a number of initiatives for students to grow there skills and connections. We launched our student run agency, the AdVance Marketing Agency, where we worked with six different clients both on and off campus to provide support for organizations in their marketing and strategy needs. We also hosted the 1st Annual AMA Connecticut Regional Conference, where 60 students and professionals from throughout New England were in attendance.
Shaver Innovation Brand Marketing Intern / Intern Project Manager
I joined the Shaver Innovation Marketing team, focusing on emerging markets and new product launches. My major project for the summer was to develop a detailed go-to-market strategy for the upcoming launch of the BIC systems razor. This required me to analyze all aspects of a product launch, including packaging models, online copy, advertisement strategies, pricing, and identify primary and secondary selling markets. I presented my findings to the executive Marketing team and saw aspects of my work go into the official launch strategy. As the Project Manager for the Summer Internship Program, I was charged with taking the skills of each of the nine (9) North American interns to analyze BIC’s digital landscape to provide recommendations for improvement to executive leadership. Having the opportunity to take a deeper look at the digital functionality across all aspects of the organization and present these findings to the executive leaders of BIC North America was a high-pressure experience and rewarding experience I can carry on in my career. Other Projects: I analyzed BIC's Amazon.com performance through benchmarking direct and indirect competitive Amazon pages. I identified multiple design and interface changes to improve engagement and drive online sales performance that are being applied to all new product pages moving forward. The BIC Direct-to-Consumer store, ShopBIC.com, needed major improvements. There was a lack of communication between the Marketing, Sales, and Digital teams which was causing a lack of website functionality. I was able to clean up the site’s interface, improve the customer shopping experience, and develop a communication channel for all three teams involved.
Customer Marketing Intern
My largest project was to create a market research database for a growing market in the Stationery category; college students. I gathered qualitative and quantitative data to identify the shopping habits during the Back to School season to use in our selling strategies. Through surveys, ethnographic research, and focus groups, I gathered useable data to help understand this market.I was also responsible for supporting the Stationery BDM during the Back to School season. Firstly, I created an Excel spreadsheet for sales reps to update with their sales results. This spreadsheet was linked to a PowerPoint presentation given each week to review the performance of each customer. This presentation also included in-store images showing BIC and competitive displays, price ladders, and promotional offerings. The presentations helped all teams to identify best practices and benchmark BIC versus its competitors. During that time, I analyzed sales data from the Shaver category to identify custom display combinations for the upcoming year. I started with the raw data. I was able to create a pivot table to show the top performing products by blade count over specific time periods. With this data, I was able to present viable product packaging and display combinations which supported an increase in facings and display support for our top customers. My internship was extended through the school year where I had an additional opportunity to work with the Operations and IT teams in implementing Microsoft SharePoint and Microsoft Teams into BIC NA. This required me to communicate with director and managerial employees to coordinate file transfers and organizational structures for each team. Next, I hosted a number of training sessions with over 150 BIC employees throughout the U.S. to educate them on how to best use the system and teach both basic and advanced techniques to be passed on to their team members.
Manager / Waiter / Busser
Beginning as a part time busser on weekends and quickly working up to a waiter and manager role, I was exposed to all aspects of a small business including employee scheduling, financial management and extensive customer interaction.
