My work placement was in Maverick. I worked in the development department beside other web and software developers at the start of my placement, however I worked mainly from home for the rest of my placement due to Covid-19.My duties involved self-directed learning and attending team and project meetings. The main things I learned were web design HTML, CSS, Sass, JavaScript, php and the front-end JavaScript framework Vue.js. Worked in the IT department for 3 months over my summer holidays with the Atos and LMW teams. I was responsible for uploading and deploying images onto over 30 Facility HMIs on the manufacturing floor. I was also responsible for building and delivering laptops for new employees. I also worked with the automation team perfecting new carts to be added to the manufacturing lines; This included scripting batch files to take ownership of files and running sysprep correctly. I also had to help troubleshoot problems relating to Wi-Fi and Ethernet networks. I assisted both teams with switch configuration and patching around the different closets in the plant. I also administered AD(Active Directory) work groups on a Visielips2 account to configure different machines.During my last week I took part in J&Js CoderDojo in LIT where we introduced kids(9-10 year olds) to coding using a software called Scratch. I was teaching them the fundamentals of coding and technology, showing them how to build and customize different vehicles with Lego and a motor. I then showed them how to connect the motor to the computer via Bluetooth using the LegoWeDo 2.0 software.
