The JSOTF-P Forward Officer In Charge (FWD OIC) is responsible to the JSOTF-P Chief of Staff (COS) for the conduct of the entire Forward Section to include all personnel and equipment. The FWD OIC is responsible for the supervision, health and welfare of 4 personnel, and is directly responsible for over $500,000 of equipment. The FWD OIC is primarily responsible for coordinating all JSOTF-P personnel transiting into and out of the Joint Operations Area (JOA) through Manila. The FWD OIC also serves as the Camp Commandant of the JSOTF-P Camp Aguinaldo compound. Camp Commandant duties include supervising all JSOTF-P contractors, construction projects within the camp, accounting for all camp equipment, and coordinating camp operations with the Joint United States Military Adviser Group (JUSMAG). The FWD OIC is also responsible for coordinating and facilitating Distinguished Visitor (DV) Visits both within and outside of the JOA. The FWD OIC also serves as a Battle Captain tracking and supporting all JSOTF-P operations throughout the Republic of the Philippines.

The Brigade Commander’s Operations Assistant (OPSA) works directly for the Spartan command group and also serves as the Officer In Charge of the brigade personal security detachment (PSD OIC). The OPSA is responsible for ensuring the physical and mental well-being of a five Soldier detachment charged with securing and supporting the senior leaders of the Spartan brigade. The OPSA is knowledgeable of all Spartan brigade and United States Army-Alaska policies and SOPs and enforces the Arctic Warrior standard. The OPSA is responsible for the scheduling and synchronization of the command calendar with operations occurring throughout the brigade. The OPSA ensures the daily operations and movements of the command group occur smoothly without interference from anticipated complications. The OPSA maintains confidential counseling folders for all personnel senior rated by the brigade commander, manages the flow of paperwork moving through the brigade command section and ensures its timely delivery back to the originating source. The OPSA drafts personal correspondence for review and approval by the brigade commander. The OPSA maintains the highest standards of professional bearing to include personal appearance and a professional work environment.
