Connor Penhale formed the idea for Compliant Cannabis in November 2014 with Andrew Foster to explore the important question of how to reduce the compliance burden for the newly profitable cannabis industry. With a strong belief that the needs of this industry were being underserved by the available software offerings, Connor set out to establish a body of empirically tested knowledge that would be the foundation of the launch of the Compliant Cannabis product.

Currently working on becoming embedded within the Open Source community, and developing expertise with Cassandra.Developed an internal application that automated the time consuming process of adding open source packages to the OLEX platform, and later spearheaded a conversion effort to PrimeFaces from RichFaces. Have been responsible for training new staff, with successful engagements that always ended with employees who knew how to perform their functions, and well! From my very first engagement, a great success that led to both repeat consulting business as well as a support contract, to my latest engagement, another example of repeat consulting business, I have repeatedly shown my best-of the-best architecture skills, delighting customers in all engagements I have been a part of. I have also expanded my skills at a constant rate to provide expertise on-demand by committing to Open Source and personal projects, where much of my experience with Maven and Wildfly/JBoss 8 comes from. Recently, new directions in cloud computing have me researching new development models with OpenStack, OpenShift, and Switchyard. I set the standard for what describes an effective on-call, and have raised the bar on what is expected of other Architects when on-call. From clear, fast first-response customer communication, to white-glove service that delights customers. I set the standard for clear, effective customer communication that delighted and enriched the customer. I have also been a major contributing factor for the rapport that OpenLogic enjoys with major customers. I wrote many well-received articles for OpenLogic’s WAZI Blog, and have contributed to the JBoss JIRA bug reports, with test cases, that have been accepted for fixing. I have produced a number of brown bags, and have shown a true dedication to sharing knowledge and enriching our team. I often assist teammates with everything from JSF to JPA, and always make sure to cross-train while I’m working those requests.

Worked to support SLOs to four departments: Polycom Global Support, Sales, Development Engineering, and Training. Lab Manager for Tier 4's Solutions Lab. Developed and delivered primary-source product training world-wide. Delivered high-touch, 'white glove' support to flagship customers. Focus included daily face-to-face interaction with Tier 3 and Tier 2 service personnel to share product knowledge and gain awareness of field issues, as well as driving innovation with root cause analysis procedure, documentation process, and emerging technology such as big data, deployment automation, and cloud initiatives. Cultivated 'subject matter expert' status on core products, and brought externally cultivated integration expertise with Microsoft flagship products as well as Open Source communications to the team.

I began working with Spotlight to fill a role at Denver’s first PACE provider, Total Longterm Care (TLC). TLC required an OCS Specialist to complete implementation of a multi-office convergence project, in addition to a VoIP Expert and a Tier III Infrastructure consultant for various other areas of overlap requiring expertise. Work included multi-state on-site visits, coordination with C-Level decision makers, and technical documentation for complex systems. I also provided training, service design/vision, service transition, and was responsible for service operation of the OCS system. During the course of this work, I also took on management responsibility for the multi-state Nortel CS1000/SMG/SRG implementation process, coordinating with multiple vendors.

I worked with this start-up Managed Services Provider from inception and through production. My role during the start-up stages involved facilitating a corporate envisioning, and solidifying many points of view into a cohesive structure that set the theme for Covalent IT. I turned over my role as a creative to third-parties when the business went live, and began work as a systems administrator for multiple clients. Work included remote and on-site technical tasks, ranging from end-user support to service strategy, design, transition, and operations. One of my primary focuses was continual service improvement.

My primary role with this company was working on behalf of small and medium businesses in Colorado to deliver exceptional managed services and IT systems engineering services. Work included remote and on-site technical tasks ranging from simple end-user break/fix tasks to high-level custom software application development.

Responsibilities with this organization included intake of client computer systems, diagnosis of hardware, and repair of software related technical problems. Required high level of self-motivation and direction. Daily client facing interactions, including de-escalation of upset clients. Work also included being assigned to handle vendor return intakes and warranty processing. Responsible for accurate service record entry, worked in a team environment that had a focus on always being able to pick up where someone else left off.

Founded Ev01v, LLC in 2006 to participate in the underserved IT consulting market in Vail, CO. Was highly involved with local business and consulted on a regular basis to determine exact business needs and then deliver with best-in-class solutions. Worked to create web identity strategies for many of these businesses and provided the hosting architecture for their sites. Additional worked included engaging with other independent contractors to implement advanced infrastructure deployments.
