I am a student in civil engineering at Western Illinois University, and am looking to break into my chosen field. I have always been interested in the buildings and structures that exist around me, and in the ways that we design our cities and buildings. Civil engineering gives a unique opportunity to combine the "hard" and "soft" sciences that few other careers can. Students of the Humanities and Students of the Sciences can achieve more together than they can separately, while other constraints limit me to only getting degrees in one, I hope to apply both to their fullest in the future.
