About Conor O'Brien
I am an action-oriented leader with over 30 years’ experience in the IT industry. In my career I have developed logistics software systems for warehouse distributors, medical service providers and manufacturing companies. I have successfully merged seven IT departments into one, developed an award-winning service delivery function (legal IT award), led the largest IT outsource in the legal industry and led the achievement of the ISO/IEC:20000 service management certification for both law firms and large accountancy practices.I have managed teams of up to 80 people and held budget responsibility for over £10m of operational budget (excluding salaries) across infrastructure, service delivery and outsourced service domains.Following my permanent roles I chose to further develop my knowledge and skills as an independent IT consultant within the legal, accountancy and media sectors. I worked with a range of clients to develop strategic IT plans, lead system selection projects and deliver ITIL and ISO/IEC:20000 service management advice as well as running multiple service transformation projects. I have also held several interim IT Director roles for top 30 law firms in England and Scotland.My current role of Vice President, IT Operations is with a global media company, Iyuno-SDI Group (previously SDI Media Group). From joining the company 4 years ago I have transformed the global Help Desk, Infrastructure and Network teams by providing a strategic business aligned roadmap incorporating efficiency, transparency and improved engagement as key elements.

At Iyuno-SDI Group I hold responsibility for Service Delivery (Help Desk, local support and business relationship management), Infrastructure and Network teams and systems. I manage a team of 30 people globally across three regions – Europe, Asia and North America – and I have budget responsibility for $10-15 million of capital and operational spend.Recent career highlights include:POST MERGER INTEGRATION – designed the post-merger infrastructure and network strategies to align both legacy companies across an enterprise class solution, migrated the multiple legacy Help Desk teams to work as an extension of the global Service Desk function utilising a common tool set, successfully migrated over 1,200 mailboxes and 20+TB of Google Drive data into Office365 and continuing to move forward the strategic agenda for global systems. SERVICE DELIVERY – reorganised service delivery to improve the performance of the regional support teams, improved service consistency, introduced new working processes and engaged with business leadership to introduce satisfaction surveys and monthly IT and business leadership meetings.INFRASTRUCTURE – developed an infrastructure transformation roadmap, brought a strategic approach to vendor management, recruited new Infrastructure Manager for day-to-day operations, developed and executed on the technology transformation programme, migrated core services to AWS, Azure and Office365, introduced project management principles and built a transformation roadmap for our tier-2 and tier-3 offices.DATA/VOICE NETWORKS – re-negotiated the global WAN contract to save $3 million over three years, developed a strategic refresh plan for all network systems, hired a Network Services Manager to run network operations, implemented increased remote working capacity to allow the company to function during the COVID pandemic, currently planning a network design and vendor refresh plan for Europe.
