Construction Services hired me as their first project manager, at that time it was a two-room operation packed full of young go getters. By the time I left to start my own business the company had grown to well over 100 employees . I was fortunate enough to watch the Owners successfully market and manage one of the best run operations in the industry from the ground up.

Draeger Construction was the largest reconstruction company on the west coast during this time period. With over 500 employees they had a training program that was second to none in fields such as waterproofing, sheet metal flashing, and product compatibility. I was fortunate enough to be one of the many beneficiaries of this fantastic training program. Although I started as a lead carpenter I was quickly promoted to foreman and on to project supervisor for large projects at Irvine Company and Avalon Apartment Community properties.

At Bajo Construction we built and remodeled custom homes in the San Diego beach communities. As most know, when you work for a small general contractor that builds custom homes your job description does not stop at framer. We always had something new and exciting to do whether it be plumbing, concrete, electrical, etc.

Built forms for footings and set form panels for basement walls during the Salt Lake City Olympics construction boom. The experience of this job was invaluable, I learned that concrete pours and finishes much differently in 110 degree heat in the low desert than it does hovering around freezing in the mountains around Park City in the fall. I also learned that concrete finishers have sore backs and knees for a reason!

My dad got me a job working for a small custom home builder and remodeler during all of my high school breaks. I later found out that this was his way of tiring me out of getting in trouble while I was not in school, it worked!
