Irc Government Of Ireland Postdoctoral Research Fellow
I was an Irish Research Council Postdoctoral Research Fellow in UCD School of History. My research focused on US foreign policy during the Carter administration (1977-1981), particularly the role of National Security Adviser Zbigniew Brzezinski in the formation of policy regarding the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan in December 1979. My first article, entitled "The Myth of the 'Afghan Trap': Zbigniew Brzezinski and Afghanistan, 1978-1979," was published in the journal Diplomatic History in April 2020. I also published an article on "The United States and the Soviet-Afghan War, 1979-1989" in the Oxford Research Encyclopedia of American History (August 2020), and contributed entries to "Voices and Visions," a collaboratively-built primary source reader for US foreign relations. I completed my BA, MA, and PhD in UCD, and have lectured on US and international history in the UCD School of History, Dublin Business School, and UCD Clinton Institute for American Studies.
