I drive a test programme comprising of design development, verification & validation of a range of consumables, which form part of our revolutionary cell and gene therapy manufacturing platform.I am a driven Biomedical Research Engineer, with proven experience in the technical and management aspects of biomedical research, the results of which I have since been peer-reviewed & published. I am a strong creative problem solver and programmer, and have experience working with and managing multidisciplinary teams.I have previous experience in consulting and project management in PwC. I have a BEng and MSc in Biomedical Engineering from Trinity College Dublin, specialising in Medical Device Design as part of my MSc.

My main focus was researching transcutaneous Spinal Cord Stimulation (tSCS) and developing a system which will provide a non-invasive method to aid rehabilitation after spinal cord injury.Work from myself and the Reilly Lab was published and presented at the IEEE EMBC 2022 conference in Glasgow, with a number of other manuscripts currently in the peer-review process, prior to publication.▪ Coordinated research projects of a multidisciplinary team of engineers, physiologists, physiotherapists and neuroscientists, and supervised master’s students to ensure project deliverables were achieved.▪ Prioritised software requirements and led unit and functional testing throughout development.▪ Designed experiments to evaluate performance and efficacy of novel algorithms: 1. Real-time modulation of spinal stimulation based on EMG inputs; 2. Comparison of IMU derived joint angles to gold standard.▪ Documented technical aspects and delivered quarterly reports to funders, ensuring the continuation of funding throughout the project and the achieving of project goals in the specified timeframe.▪ Completed a course in Epidemiology & Biostatistics to lead statistical analyses (mixed effects models) in multiple papers written for publication, and also completed a certificate in Research Integrity.Skills Developed:Experimental design,Recording and signal processing of electrophysiological (EMG), kinematic and kinetic data, human subject recruitment, Hardware, software & algorithm specification and development,Extensive MATLAB & Python programming, Project management, reporting and stakeholder engagement. -
