The objective of the contract is to maintain and upgrade the Ashburton District local road network to the prescribed standards while optimising costs, ensuring durability and safety, and aligning with local, regional and national strategies.This contract encompasses the maintenance and operations of; sealed and unsealed roads in total of 2610km, bridges, cattle stop, railings, traffic facilities, drainage assets, vegetation, and footpaths. It also includes network management requirements such as, inspections, programming, monitoring, reporting, data validation and response to emergency events.My key deliverable was to ensure a successful implementation phase of the contract to get the Council’s overall acceptable service to its community and road users. As well as developing a brand-new team from our front-line operational staff to the management team.The Contract is worth $5.7 million per year on a duration of a 5+2 -year term.

This contract covers 174km of roads throughout Christchurch. The contract includes drainage, pavement, bridges, signs, street furniture, road marking, footpaths, kerb and channel, street sweeping, leaf fall, incident response, and winter and amenity maintenance. Stakeholder and traffic management are complex, with 60% of the area requiring Level 2 traffic management. Management of programming, asset management, budgets, and resources on this key urban contract worth $7.1M annually.Key works delivered on the contract include road resurfacing and regular maintenance of pavements, footpaths, cycleways, drainage, and traffic assets.Participating in renewals and maintenance programming, I worked closely with CCC’s teams during development of the reseals programme, consulting with the CCC team to review reseal sites. This is combined with data analysis and assessment of both client and contractor risks. I led my team throughout the Level 4 Lockdown in 2020, ensuring daily communications with CCC, my team and affected stakeholders.
