My friend Alex, cofounder of Faceless Labs, sometimes says: "Could you imagine trying to hire an Evan?"Perhaps it's my early training as an actor, but I'd say that's true for everyone--people are infinitely more interesting than any character they could ever pretend to be.I, personally, have played many roles:An actor, musician, a gardener, a pizzamaker, a server, delivery driver, EMT, personal trainer, professional mascot (Lou E. Loon), an event planner, music teacher, fundraiser, worship leader, lifeguard, coach, car salesman (hated it), speechwriter (loved it), surrogate, PR-fixer, playwright, a janitor, (the list goes on)...I've been banned from the country of Canada, appointed to the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels, and starred in three Mt. Dew commercials that aired around the globe.I've been a vice president and I've been homeless; I've helmed efforts to generate $MMs in revenue and learned to live without money, entirely.In fact, I was thinking of leaving the money system altogether when I started to grasp the potential for blockchain technology to create new, better systems of value--alternatives to the dollar.Since 2019 I've worked in the web3 space (blockchain, AI, the metaverse, etc.) building novel experiences and telling a story that invites everyday people, at all levels of experience, to understand why future technology might matter to them, personally--to influence a future where technology enables regenerative lifestyles and a deeper understanding of what it means to be human.If it seems difficult to find a common thread, don't worry--it's not you, it's me.
