• Project management and delivery of new Vertu technical accessories products. With a strong emphasis on delivering on-time and to a development budget of €500K plus.
• Manage and lead the multi-disciplined R&D Product development team. Covering ID, Mechanics, Hardware, Software, Reliability, PS&L, Certification, Product Marketing, Sourcing, Buying, Supplier Development Engineering.
• Management of outsourced product development with a virtual, technical team based at the ODM supplier in the Far East.
• Established and manage project processes for working across all sites / companies.
• Manage the project through the Vertu product development process, chairing design reviews and project milestone reviews.
• Detailed project planning & consolidation of R&D sub-project plans using Microsoft Project & Excel.

• Responsible for specifying, planning and designing accessories for luxury mobile handsets, manufactured to a very high quality, from the finest materials including leather, metal injection moulding and Sapphire Crystal.
• Generating project documentation - Technical Product Requirements, Visual Quality Documents and Project plans.
• Working in a collaborative role with suppliers in the Far East, from concept through to stable manufacture.
• Responsible for managing all the mechanical aspects of the project to delivery against the project time plan and BOM cost target.
• Milestone documentation reviews of 3D data, 2D drawings, tooling information, tolerance stacks, first article inspections, CPK’s, SPC’s and peer/design reviews.
• Concept work with ID team, using CATIA for proof or principle models and detail part design for plastic injection moulding, metal injection moulding, stampings, leather upholstering, die castings & CNC machining.

• $3.6 million project - new development of drinks machine for domestic and workplace markets.
• Project managing a specialist team; mechanical, hardware, software, certification, reliability, marketing.
• Wrote machine specification with the global marketing director and the US channel team.
• Design briefs for industrial design agencies
• Responsible for delivering the product on time and on budget against tight quality requirements with relevant product safety approvals (UL/ETL, CE, JET, EMC & FDA).
• Managed key communications to the Business Management team.

• Managed technical team spread over 4 countries in Europe and Asia to ensure the product was delivered to quality, cost and time targets.
• Responsible for ensuring the externally contracted ‘control system design’ was developed as per specification with internal technical support.
• Established and managed project processes for working across all sites / companies.
• Carried out design reviews at each stage of the project with mechanical, electronics and production teams in the UK, Switzerland and Malaysia.
• Responsible for prototype builds (SLS, SLA, vac casting, metal fabrication, machining) - on budget, on time and used for relevant design verification testing.
• Regular trips to the contract manufacturer in Malaysia & tooling manufacturer in Singapore to attend tool trials and production line trials with emphasis to improve TAC time and optimise production line test stations.

• CAD based Design Engineer working on UNIGRAPHICS V17 and SOLIDWORKS.
• Designing components from concept through to production for plastic injection moulding, sheet metal fabrication, membrane panel designs, machine loom routing, ultrasonic welding, hot plate welding, plating & painting.
• Worked closely with suppliers on design optimisation for production and cost.
• Generating production drawings.
• User interface and design visuals in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.

• Carried out product development and one off designs to suit customer’s requirements.
• Produced ISO 9002 documentation to accompany all designs that I worked on.
• Liaised with the factory to overcome any manufacturing problems.
• Produced sketches, working drawings, 3D CAD models, computer renderings, one off tooling drawings, laminating specs, production schedules and corresponded with suppliers of components.
• Hands on experience working in the factory learning how the moulding and tooling was manufactured.
