As an EH&S intern with Abbott Nutrition, I operate throughout the plant to ensure the work environment is up to EPA, FDA, and OSHA standards. I perform safety inspections and review our standard operating procedures so Abbott can continue to provide high-quality child care products that are safe for both our consumers and our employees. My current projects include restructuring the confined space entry inventory to exceed OSHA standards, as well as implementing a new tracking system for lockout/tagout equipment to improve safety.

As a tutor at the WMU's Student Success Center, my main responsibility is to tutor students in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). I have also been promoted to a Senior Staff Member, or manager. My duties as a Senior Staff Member include scheduling and verifying time sheets for the other tutors, analyzing usage data from the tutoring centers, meeting with University leadership to discuss budget issues, and supervising events that promote student interest in our tutoring program.

I have been a Teaching Assistant for several classes in the Chemical and Paper Engineering Department at Western Michigan University, including Introduction to Chemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering Computations (Excel, VBA, and MathCAD), and Data Acquisition (Sophomore Instrumentation Lab). My responsibilities included leading students in lecture material, critically grading and assessing student work, leading students in the laboratory, and holding office hours to assist students outside of class.

At Diekema Hamann Architecture+Engineering, I worked with AutoCad and Revit to model both duct work and electrical systems. The biggest project that I worked on was the WMU's new Homer Stryker Medical School. When I started at DHAE, the project was in the finishing stages and my task involved working with WMU to develop a fully integrated, three dimensional model in Autodesk Revit that that contained all necessary equipment maintenance information and could be displayed on an iPad to increase the efficiency of equipment service. I also worked on several other projects including working with data from Bronson hospitals to try and pinpoint failures in their heating and cooling systems.My second summer, I had the opportunity to lead a team of interns in modelling over 300,000 square feet of duct work and mechanical piping in Revit for Yuma Regional Medical Center. Leading this team look large amounts of coordination with the engineers and architects working from Arizona. This project allowed me to vastly improve my communication and time management skills.

Waldo Library - Western Michigan University

As part of the systems support team, I was responsible for keeping staff and public computers in the library functioning properly. Our work included day to day troubleshooting was well as working on longer term projects to improve our network. As part of my personal position, I also did statistical analysis for any department projects using IBM SPSS and Microsoft Excel.

My responsibilities as a teaching assistant included leading an honors section of the Chemistry I lab, creating lecture material for each lab assignment, aiding students with lab and lecture material and critically grading lab reports.
