I am a senior researcher at the Pacific Institute, a global nonprofit focused on creating and advancing solutions to the world's most pressing water challenges. At the Pacific Institute, I work on corporate water stewardship, integrated water management, California water policy, and more. In particular, much of my work supports the CEO Water Mandate and the California Water Action Collaborative. My interests are centered on creative water management solutions that balance human and environmental needs. My graduate research focused on how to employ market mechanisms to better allocate water resources, particularly for environmental flows. For my Master's thesis project, I worked in a team of five graduate students in collaboration with The Nature Conservancy, looking at the potential of water markets to provide wetland habitat for migratory birds in the Sacramento Valley. In addition to my research at the Pacific Institute, I teach Water Policy at the UCSB Bren School of Environmental Science & Management, and am one of five members of the City of Santa Barbara Water Commission. When I'm not working on water issues, find me running along the beach, cycling in the Santa Ynez mountains, or backpacking in the Sierras. I also practice mindfulness and meditation. In 2015 I graduated magna cum laude from the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB), with a Bachelor's of Arts in Environmental Studies and a minor in Spanish. In 2017 I graduated with a Master's degree from the Bren School of Environmental Science & Management at UCSB. I specialized in Economics and Politics of the Environment, with a focus in Communication, and was a Walton Family Foundation Sustainable Water Markets (SWM) Fellow.
