The Home Improvement Company (HIP Australia) is a home improvement company. My position involved going to qualified appointments, set by the call centre and giving a presentation on the product the customer was interested in and selling to customer on the spot. This also involved cross selling the other products we had available. Some of the products that I was selling:Solar PV systems, window shutters,plantation shutters, Awnings, Café blinds, Guttering, carports, decking, rainwater tanks, eco-friendly lawns and roof restoration or re-roofing. I often traveled across regional NSW to offer our products to a wider range of customers.

My key role in the modern group is selling Roller Shutters and Rainwater tanks to customers in their home on the spot. Pre-qualified leads generated by a call centre are sent to me on a daily basis. I then travel to the customer’s home who would be expecting me. My goal whilst there is to close the sale of the product to the customer on the spot. Also involved is qualifying the customer to ensure the product is something they can afford and that they understand a decision is required. Strong, confident negotiation techniques along withpeople skills and quick building of report are absolutely critical to have any chance of success in this notoriously challenging type of sales role.
