CurrentMy research investigates the kinematic factors that control the distribution of set-lengths in fluvial cross-strata. This is a year-long thesis research project stemming from the focus of the Surface Processes Group lead by Dr. Vamsi Ganti. Using high-resolution time-elevation data from experimental river flumes I use MATLAB programs to reconstruct 2-D cross-sections of the preserved cross-strata to measure set-lengths. I hope to either prove the limited and dated existing theories as correct or find new kinematic relationships that will directly be applied to the field of reconstructing paleocurrent conditions.
