I'm an experienced scientist with strong technical and problem-solving skills. I received my Masters degree in chemistry from the University of Utah, and my most recent job was working as a member of the Material Science & Innovation group at Becton Dickinson supporting their medical device new product development work and design of experiments, and I loved it. Additional experience includes the operation of an Instron, Keyence optical microscope, viscometer, FTIR, UV-Vis, and LC-MS/MS instrumentation.

Scientist IBd Feb 2023 - Feb 2024Franklin Lakes, New Jersey, UsBecton Dickinson is a multinational medical technology company that manufactures and sells medical devices, instrument systems, and reagents.Scientist 1:One year contract member of the Material Science & Innovation group, where I supported the new product development of a medical device and the associated design of experiments. • Created 26 polymer solutions as part of a design of experiments to create a mixing method to minimize mixing time, produce consistent solutions, and to establish specifications on solvent system concentration. The design of experiments was created to give insight into the important mixing parameters to be used for scaled up production of the polymer solution.• Utilized FTIR to evaluate an undesirable and unknown solid that appeared during a new product development experiment. This gave helpful insight into the composition of the unknown solid. • Utilized a Keyence optical microscope to measure the polymer thickness of R&D samples. This gave needed information for new product development activities.• Improved the accuracy of the group’s HPLC method by 19% through the use of a conversion factor to account for the difference in the standard used and the analyte tested• Determined the viscosity of many polymer solutions using a Fungilab viscometer. This gave the group important information about the solutions being used in their new product development activities. -

Technical LeadCovance Jul 2019 - Jan 2021Princeton, New Jersey, UsCovance (now Labcorp Drug Development) is a contract research organization that provides nonclinical, preclinical, clinical, and commercialization services to pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.Technical Lead:Worked with Project Managers, Lead Scientists, Lab Analysts, Instrument Operators, and others to meet project deadlines for the analysis of bioanalytical samples. Responsible for troubleshooting failed bioanalytical runs to determine the cause of failure to meet pre-defined acceptance criteria. • Troubleshot over 100 bioanalytical runs on different triple quadrupole mass spectrometers using liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) to determine the cause of each run’s failure to meet pre-defined acceptance criteria. This saved hundreds of hours of lab analyst rework• Integrated and analyzed the data from hundreds upon hundreds of LC-MS/MS bioanalytical runs through the use of Sciex Analyst software and other software which resulted in a majority of passing runs• Trained new employees in bioanalytical extraction which led to an increase in samples extracted or method validation work performed each week• Managed multiple priorities by working with project managers to determine project deadlines and organized lab analyst schedules to meet those deadlines• Gained experience with bioanalytical method validation and sample analysis that produced data used to support new drug applications to the FDA -
