In this unique contract, I served as consultant and instructor for a team of 8. Each team member was in charge of at least one legacy application running in production. None of the team members had any web development experience. Most were structured programmers and only 2 had any Visual Basic experience. Through my guidance and experience, my task was to turn this team into "Enterprise Developers", thereby enabling them to create scalable, component based, web enabled applications. Customized formal instruction and individual guidance accomplished this goal during the analysis, design and development phases. The team mastered many concepts and languages including: Object oriented design, event driven development, n-tier architecture, COM design and development, IIS, MTS, HTML, DHTML, JavaScript, VBScript, ASP.Net, Visual Studio.Net, Visual Basic, SQL Server 7 & 2000, and T-SQL.In addition to giving the team guidance in analyzing and designing the "web enablement" of those systems, I worked with Business Units and End Users to analyze, design and develop an entirely new intra-web application. This system enabled Case Workers, Nurses, Billing Technicians, Customer Support access to hundreds of thousands of TIFF images of Claim Forms, Doctor and Nurses' notes, therapy notes and the like.
