I came into college passionate about the environment and left with the skills to make a real difference. I have extensive knowledge about the Earth and its processes and now know how to best put them to use. I went back to school in order to obtain a certificate in geographic information science so that I might be able to take part in this shift. Through my classes at Western I acquired skills in GIS softwares and a keen eye for how to display them in an aesthetically pleasing and easy to read way. Entering the workforce during the pandemic was an interesting experience and I felt excited to land a gas leak survey technician position. Over my time at Hydromax and Puget Sound Energy I gained a lot of valuable experience in a real world workplace and further developed many of my existing skills. I proved extremely quickly that I was more than competent, becoming the top producer in just my second month. I got a raise after my third month and was shouted out multiple times in team meetings. During my 15 months at Hydromax I was the top producer about 75% of the weeks. This is made even more impressive as I was consistently given more challenging areas to work in as I gained the reputation of producing solid numbers in almost any area. While most people in the company missed out on their incentive goals, I hit mine all 15 months, proving that im extremely capable of completing goals set for me. While Hydromax treated me well and rewarded me for my performance it wasn't something I wanted to do for the rest of my life. It is my hope that my next job will challenge me in a way that I enjoy, putting my current skills to the test while simultaneously forcing me to learn new ones. I am open to any opportunity at the moment but it would amazing if my next job incorporated things I enjoy and am passionate about, such as the enviornment, some type of outdoors component or making peoples lives better.
