Crew chief, public relations coordinator, schedule master, community educator, preceptor, and new base startup lead—I wear many hats. I am the go-to person, whether you need a flight team for an education event or have a team struggling to adapt to new operating procedures.My proudest achievements center around culture and compliance. My company has expanded, including acquiring multiple new locations. This often creates resistance to the new processes, and it becomes my job to resolve this:✦ Achieved process and regulatory compliance at 2 locations✦ Trained new team in compliant operations and crew leadership✦ Instructed teams on the new process for recommending changes and achieving future growthI also enjoy working on State and FEMA projects. Our company has a task force in which I participate, and our whole mission is to support the State and FEMA in their disaster relief efforts. Sometimes this involves setting up temporary medical facilities, and other times we simply serve in our normal medical capacities. Whatever they need, we provide. I help to analyze the needs, plan the support, oversee the project, and lead the team. My most recent challenge involved the installation of new radios in the helicopter … ones that did not communicate with our existing fleet system. Within 2 hours I had reviewed the extensive operating spreadsheet, created an in-flight reference guide, and had the crew ready for the next call with no out of service time.

I deliver lectures and support skill labs for BLS, ACLS, AMLS, ITLS, PITLS, PALS, PHTLSand local paramedic programs. In addition, teach the advanced certification instructor courses for adjunct faculty/instructors. My students include healthcare professionals and providers of all levels. Since course content and national certification requirements update every 3–5 years, I routinely redesign the course materials for compliance. I am proud of our reputation, course selection availability, and unusually high national registry pass rates.

This program had just lost 2 major county contracts and had loss of 100+ preceptors with 75+ interns awaiting placement. I was recruited to revive the program and local partnerships/contracts. I got right to work.I immediately started developing new partnerships to obtain contracts for internships and graduate placement. In doing so, I actually added a whole new territory to the company’s clientele. The new area was at some distance from all 3 of our education facilities. The cost analysis showed that opening a new, local training location would be most cost effective. I took to the endeavor with executive management support — relationship development, contract negotiation, staffing, and execution. The results were excellent:✦ Secured 10 hospital and 5 ambulance service contracts✦ Opened new location after cultivating a new university partnershipFinding that many students had been off their academic achievement track and fallen off of local/accreditation tracking, I immediately rectified the records and designed a process for integrating them back into training. While many of the students decided to discontinue with the program, those interested in continuing had every help available. I personally developed and taught refresher courses to ensure that they had all the skills necessary to continue in the program and to achieve success with certification. I was gratified to see those students who had a heart for the work succeed. To ensure future success, I reinstituted use of our accrediting body’s tracking system and inserted accountability into the tracking process. These rapid changes revived the program’s standing and preserved our accredited status. Our success became consistent:✦ 150 certified EMTs and more than 300 certified paramedics annually✦ Above-average student satisfaction scores✦ Decreased attrition rates✦ Increased placement of students into the workforce✦ Above-average employer satisfaction with newly placed graduates

Currently an adjunct professor. I previously ran the paramedic program for educational services division. With new regulations in place, I led the adaptation of curriculum and program operations to ensure that we were compliant to achieve upcoming accreditation. It was a great success, as we received CAAHEP/CoA accreditation. We also increased our graduates’ national registry pass rate. Concurrently serving as a UMBC critical care paramedic that kept my skills sharp and added additional relevant experience.
