I am a corporate chemist at Alloway Environmental Testing Services where I prepare and analyze samples to ensure EPA compliance by companies and government entities. My non-traditional education in Photochemistry (PhD), Chemistry (MS), and Biology (BS), combined with my industrial work experience, trainability, and willingness to help others, has enabled me to bring beneficial and unique perspectives to a variety of research projects with high efficiency.During my graduate studies, I developed original organo-silicon hybrid coatings for monument protection, unique photo-responsive sponges for environmental remediation, investigated fundamental studies into silicon and sulfur chemistries, designed analytical methods for biocompatibility, and created a unique approach to photo-transitioning materials. Apart from research, I served as an assistant lab manager, participating in grant writing and submission as an editor, co-author, and author, handled inventory and ordering for the research group, and was trained in the maintenance, operation, and analysis of various instrumentation. I mentored peers and undergraduate researchers, assisting with multiple projects, including surface-modifying silanes, the development of adhesives, depolymerization methodologies, NO-releasing materials, sulfur material chemistry, and several industry consultations. During this time, I graduated from the NSF I-Corps national program with an understanding of business and entrepreneurship, served as a graduate student ambassador to the university safety committee, and presented my work at nine conferences resulting in two awards.
