I eat, sleep and breathe HR. A true generalist at my core, as I enjoy having my hands in a bit of everything, I believe in empowering the team to manage, grow and thrive in their functions. I approach HR from a human capital management perspective; a company is nothing without its greatest asset, its people. Those who choose to work for and support the business, are most critical to its success. As HR leaders we set policies and live by them, we toe the line and exemplify the business intention, but we must remember to find balance. I believe all leaders should set both expectations and tone, but most importantly, and consistently, be a resource, coach and partner to the humans we employ. Sure, HR manages significant business functions like recruiting and onboarding, benefits administration, compliance obligations, compensation and total rewards, talent management and learning development, all key pieces to the employee experience, but without consistent attention and dedication to employee engagement and talent planning, actively seeing and participating in the workplace dynamic, corporate culture and any alignment employees have to the mission will suffer. If we only work to attract and not retain, did we do it right? In my career journey, I have gleaned nothing else so deeply as I have the visceral experience of seeing, hearing and feeling the organizational dynamic proving that the successful journey of a company starts and ends with its people being seen, heard and valued. When people feel support to find a way, together, there's no telling what possibilities can come to life. I believe in what I do and take it seriously so I'm looking for a new employment opportunity where the organization I dedicate myself to will have a similarly focused vision and drive to not just make product or provide a service, but actively support its team with clarity and dedication, a fire, for the employee experience and supporting good humans with good opportunities.
