The New Hampshire Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence creates safe and just communities through advocacy, prevention and empowerment of anyone affected by sexual violence, domestic violence and stalking. • Led a national, state, and local coalition of over 100 immigrant rights, labor, civil rights, faith-based, and community rights organizations to advance comprehensive immigration reform by seeking passage of the Secure America and Orderly Immigration Act of 2005 (S.1033), passage of the “Chairman’s Mark” in the Senate Judiciary Committee, and final passage of S.2611 by a vote of 62-36• Coordinated legislative advocacy with over 80 field organizations in almost 40 states, including organizing town hall meetings, national weeks of action and web-based advocacy• Created and led an interfaith coalition (including Protestant, Catholic, conservative Evangelical, and Jewish groups) in legislative, media and grassroots strategies. Activities included sign-on letters, conferences, press conferences, lobby days, statements, and ads

• Lobbied Congress and the administration on issues relating to the erosion of human rights, civil rights, and civil liberties since 9-11 including the USA PATRIOT Act, the Homeland Security Act, post 9-11 refugee and asylum issues, security detainees and various executive branch measures• Wrote personal privacy section of three major reports including A Year of Loss (September 2002), Imbalance of Powers (March 2003) and Assessing the New Normal (September 2003)• Led a diverse coalition of human rights, immigrant rights, and conservative religious and faith-based groups in the successfully opposing several provisions in federal legislation that would have harmed refugees and resulted in sending people back to face torture • Led a successful campaign consisting of 150 human rights, civil rights, immigrant rights, women’s rights, and conservative organizations, which sought to prevent the Department of Justice from denying women the ability to obtain refugee status in the United States based on gender related violence• Led a coalition of almost 100 immigrant rights, human rights, civil rights and religious organizations to eliminate through legislation three arbitrary caps that prevented over 160,000 refugees from adjusting to permanent resident status. These efforts succeeded in elimination of all three caps

• Led a diverse and successful advocacy and education campaign, which brought information technology to under-served communities throughout the U.S. by restoring $48 million in appropriations for two federally funded programs• Lobbied Congress and administration on public interest technology issues, judicial and executive branch nominations, criminal justice matters including racial profiling, and participating in coalition campaigns on electoral reform and tax policy
