Profile bio

About Cotter Christian

Interior design is uniquely positioned to explore and facilitate relationships among people, the spaces they inhabit, and their community. I am particularly interested in how the interior environment shapes human behavior and the ways that designers facilitate placemaking that encourages prosocial behavior through the integration of a sense of awe, mindfulness, and contemplative practice. Further, my research also looks at how design processes can be used by non-designers in creating meaningful places. Associations with physical place are changing because of ubiquitous technology, and it is imperative that designers leverage their unique understanding of scale and human behavior to overcome the placelessness of the contemporary era. My research also extends to the scholarship of teaching and learning where I am exploring how mindfulness and contemplative practices can be used in the design classroom to encourage focus, leadership, risk-taking, and creativity.

Listed skills include Revit, Interior Design, Sketchup, Interior Architecture, and 18 others.
