As a key function of the programming team at Venture Outdoors, I am responsible for fielding all phone calls, registration for public programs, and general customer service, as well as:• Providing leadership assistance on programs as needed.• Representing Venture Outdoors at community outreach and members’ events.• Editing, fact-checking, and distributing program information sheets to participants.

This diverse internship involved the removal of invasive plants to restore native ecosystems at Golden Gate National Recreation Area and Point Reyes National Seashore, as well as:• Co-leading groups of 10-30 volunteers in field projects.• Recording and organizing work performed data with overall site recommendations. • Managing travel and meal logistics.

As an environmental educator and mentor to a group of 12 local urban high school students, I helped students establish a new and meaningful relationship to the natural world around them through trail maintenance, daily environmental education and team-building activities.

• Composed outreach, including press releases and mass mailings, for the museum’s performance art series.

As a member of the Site Stewardship Team at the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy, I was responsible for coordinating a weekly field project for volunteer groups of 10-60, as well as:• Public outreach and volunteer recruitment for 14 other ongoing drop-in volunteer programs throughout the parks.• Volunteer management, such as fielding questions to determine which program would best suit the interested party and addressing volunteer feedback to help foster a sense of community within the parks.• Office administration, data entry, purchasing supplies for programs, petty cash, vehicle maintenance and upkeep of volunteer database.
