RESEARCHMuch of my applied research relies on the use of large-scale data, including electronic health records and insurance claims, to study decision-making by physicians, and has been featured in the New England Journal of Medicine, in news outlets including the New York Times, Reuters, and STAT, popular press books such as Deep Medicine, Random Acts of Medicine, and on podcasts such as Freakonomics, MD. Used detailed EMS records and machine learning algorithms to model the probability of future opiate overdoses within an at-risk population.

Analyzed and assisted in the design of randomized experiments to evaluate programs that sought to improve criminal justice, educational, and labor market outcomes for at-risk youth in Chicago Public Schools and the Cook County Juvenile Temporary Detention Center.
