David Power Architect, BArch (Hons) FRIAI, is a founding partner of Cox Power Architects, Westport. Born in Waterford he graduated from UCD in 1988 & worked for PKA Architects Dublin and Zandfos Architects/Urbanists Paris. On returning to Ireland in 1995 he began private practice in Westport Co Mayo. He was a member of the 2018 -2024 RIAI Visiting Board to the Atlantic Technical University Sligo and a previous board member to University College Dublin. He was 2011-2013 Vice President of the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland (RIAI), Honorary Secretary 2009/10 and RIAI Western Region Representative in 2005/06/07/08. He was a member of the Western Development Commission Industry Advisory Group on the 2009 publication “Creative West: The Creative Sector in the Western Region”. He has lectured and exhibited on many occasions most recently at the RIAI Annual Conference in 2013. He served as RIAI liaison on the EU Construction Products Regulations in 2013 and was a member of the 2018 National Standards Authority of Ireland Concrete Blocks Committee leading to the publication of the new Irish Standard on defective blocks I.S. 465:2018 “Assessment, testing and categorisation of damaged buildings incorporating concrete blocks containing certain deleterious materials”.
