Planning, Design & Construction Procurement InternTexas State University Aug 2016 - Jun 2017San Marcos, Tx, UsAs a procurement intern I oversaw payment transactions for ALL our construction projects. Our main campus in San Marcos,TX and our nursing school in Round Rock, TX had combination of over 10 construction projects in a given year. Analyzed payment invoices, focused on finding discrepancies and solved them with clients before supervisor approval. Kept up monthly with contractors insurance renewals as well as payment and performance bonds.Looked for executed signatures and stamps from engineers, construction managers and architects before processing pay applications. Payment and performance bonds were required in each construction project that was greater than $25,000. Reviewed proper paperwork was submitted monthly. Compared payment applications sent by contractors to a schedule of values that I would build in excel. Referenced executed contracts between university and contractors to ensure there was no over-billing. Texas State University (state agency) had to contract Historically Underutilized Businesses (HUB). Verified contractors were submitting HUB forms to show proof they were hiring sub-contractors.Worked with procurement team to meet 30 day invoice deadline. Once we received payment applications from contractors procurement team had 30 days to dispute or remit funds. Used SAP to locate purchase orders and find project cost. -

Study Abroad StudentUniversity Of New York In Prague May 2015 - Jun 2015Praha 2, CzFor my study abroad trip in Prague I was enrolled in 2 courses. I studied Investment Analysis and the Emerging Market Economies in Central Europe.Aside from coursework, we went on various business visits in the Czech Republic. These business visits included the Czech National Bank, the Prague Stock Exchange, Wood & Co. an investment banking firm, Czechinvest a investment and business development agency, 3TS a private equity firm, and Honeywell's R&D center. The company visits always seemed to relate back to topics we covered in the classroom. It was exciting to apply what we just learned in class and be able to ask professionals on any further questions we may have had. Learning from these leaders also helped us understand more how the Czech Republic's economy worked and how it has developed over the last years.Through this international experience I picked up a number of skills. I learned that I was able to adapt to a different environment almost instantly. I was constantly interacting with people who held different interest, values or perspectives which is something that I expect from my future career. I also learned how to communicate ideas in a matter that gained acceptance. By being patient and respecting peoples values I was always able to come to a consensus whenever I came across a hostile situation. Working effectively with other members was something that I improved while abroad. While visiting other countries in Europe or just getting around in the Czech Republic it was important to have good communication skills with my peers. Many times we had to work together to find points of interest in the city. By setting priorities, conducting careful planning, and managing our time wisely we were able to explore the city and sometimes other countries without the help of our advisors. After this amazing experience, if I am ever given the opportunity to travel domestically or abroad for my career I will be excited and prepared for the challenge. -
