As an Oil and Gas Inspector in CDPHE's Air Pollution Control Division (APCD), I am responsible for inspecting facilities to ensure compliance with clean air regulations. My work involves traveling across the state of Colorado to perform a mixture of full compliance evaluations and infrared camera inspections. I investigate facility records and permits, perform site inspections, write reports, and work alongside APCD's enforcement team when violations occur.

I investigated carbon cycling within an Arctic river corridor. My master’s research specifically addressed the carbon stock of different floodplain surfaces of the Canning River, Alaska and the timescale that defines aspects of the landscape. This project incorporated data collected in the field, lab analyses, and remote sensing to build a comprehensive picture of organic carbon in a fluvial, permafrost system. This study helps inform our understanding of the Arctic—one of the regions most profoundly impacted by climate change—and how it will respond to further climate disruption.

Responsible for the teaching and inspiration of undergraduates in the geosciences. Over two semesters I taught four lab sections (three sections of a standalone intro to geology class and one section of an upper level geomorphology lab attached to a class). For the intro geology labs, I collaborated with a professor and other TAs but was the primary instructor for my classes. I engaged students with the goal of fostering an appreciation for the earth sciences. In many, I inspired a desire to learn more and want to be present in lab. I also introduced them to the diverse range of subjects encapsulated within the geosciences. For the geomorphology lab, I worked with Dr. Robert Anderson to help students understand difficult subject material, preparing them for challenging real-world geologic questions. In both labs, field trips and hands on experiments were a core component of the curriculum. In these situations I was able to effectively turn my surroundings into a classroom to better educate my students.

Completed a Senior Honors Thesis in Dr. Jim Kaste's Geochemistry lab: “Honey as a bioindicator for air pollutant deposition in the eastern United States.” I've been conducting self-led research assessing the biogeochemical cycling of air pollutants into honey, including sulfates, nitrates, and anthropogenically produced magnetite spherules. I've utilized ion chromatography, scanning electron microscopy, and ArcGIS to address my hypotheses.

Investigated nicotine's impact on the behavior and cognition of live rats. Mentored new lab students to become proficient in lab techniques and directed lab sessions. Administered injections, carried out data collection, and assisted in observations of experiments
