As a CLS generalist, I am responsible for performing the necessary lab work for the hospital's hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, serology, blood bank, coagulation, and microbiology lab benches.

Aemtek is a independent contract lab who's mission statement is to help their clients obtain accurate and reliable results that help ensure their client's food safety and water quality. I started at Aemtek by working as a food lab technician and performing responsiblities such as * Detect, identify, and count harmful bacteria in food samples by using microbiological techniques such as pour plating, spread plating, serial dilutions and petrifilm counts * Use immunoassays (Vidas) to identify harmful pathogens that can be found in food products and water samples * Test water samples for bacteria by using techniques such as Heterotrophic Plate Count, Colitag, and Membrane Filtration*Test food products for common allergens using immunno assays As I grew in my position at Ametek I became more specialized and my duties became more focused in running AMETEK's media lab. My tasks changed from not only performing my responsibilities as a lab technician but also performing responsibilities such as *manage, produce, and maintain culture media needed by both AMETEK'S research and food lab* Have good working knowledge of most commonly used media at AMETEK*QC all in house and ordered media* Keep records of all in house and ordered media*Have a good understanding of all media equipment used in the media lab such as masterclave, XY 500, and APS 1 *Train new technicians in the media lab

During my time as a student at Sonoma State University I got the opportunity to work in Dr. Nathan Ranks Lab, who is a professor at the university. The lab mainly focused on population genetics and environmental issues in the Sierra Nevadas. During my time under Dr. Rank I spent most of my summer vacations gathering samples and data in bishop Ca and in the school year I would work in the lab analyzing that data. The end product of my work was a self designed research project that examined gene variation in the species Chrysomela aneneicollis.

Purolite is a company that focuses on the production of ion exchange resins( which are bead like polymers that trap and transfer ions). During my time at Purolite I was an assistant to Dr. Jim Dale and worked with other team members in the Quality Control lab. My day to day tasks consisted of procedures such as optical inspection, capacities,titrations, moisture testing and resin digestions on ion exchange resins.
