I am a theoretical physicist working in the area of gravitational-wave astronomy. I am interesting in gravitational physics and, in particular how we find out more about black holes, neutron stars and the stars they are born from. Much of my work involves data analysis and astrophysical interpretation, but I like to tackle a range of problems from analytical calculations to computational modelling. I am always happy to investigate a new, interesting problem.I am currently a Senior Lecturer (equivalent to an Associate Professor) at the Institute for Gravitational Research at the University of Glasgow. This academic role involves a mix of teaching and researching. I enjoy the variety of my work.Alongside my astrophysics research, I have a keen interest in education, both formal, university-level teaching and informal public outreach (including public engagement, and citizen-science projects). I think that education and encouraging interest in science are of critical importance. Enriching our scientific knowledge starts with research, but does not end until it is communicated to the public.
