As a CTE Teacher with 15+ years of industry experience in business, technology and education, I focus on project based learning and performance tasks within custom built “makerspaces.” My teaching strategies engage all students, creating a dynamic community for achievement and growth. Bringing my real world experience into the classroom allows for authentic learning opportunities for students.- Tripled student enrollment in the Virtual Enterprise & Technology programs- Developed a 34 student “makerspace” including whiteboard painted walls, five 3D printers, seven stations for iOS and Android app development, four touch screen monitors, six work stations with dual displays, three standing desks and a conference table. Students are inspired to collaborate, create and discover - Member of the SIFMA Business & Finance Industry Commission- Developed the UHS Program (University in a High School) with Suny Farmingdale for students to receive college credits for the rigor of coursework completed in the Virtual Enterprise class.- Created a team of professional industry mentors for the Virtual Enterprise program, who speak with students throughout the year to give feedback and guidance on assignments and competitions. Mentors skype, conference call and meet with students periodically to expose students to industry language and support. Mentors collaborate with teachers on curriculum development and judge in-school competitions- Lead teacher in writing and developing the course curriculum for Visual Design and Art & Technology.
