I have 30+ years experience in analysis, design, development, testing and implementation of various software solutions on a variety of platforms using a numerous different technology. Experienced with all stages of the development life cycle. Fluent knowledge of both C# and VB.NET languages while leveraging database technologies such as SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis and Kafka. My strengths are in architectural design and implementation and performance of large monolith modular systems.

Core Services Team: Ancestry.com is the leading family history website in the world. Much of this is due to the fact that that Ancestry.com does much of the family history research work for their customers. Generating “hints” of information that our software believes to be very relevant to the customer. For the past 4 years, I have developed the software components necessary to receive 2500 customer requests per second, process these requests to find relevant information from among over 25 billion records of information. This relevant information is then stored as a new record in a MySQL database. This database contains over 40 billion records and grows at a rate of just over 1 billion record each month. Performance and high availability were key focuses of my responsibilities.Website Scrapping Team: Lead a team responsible for collecting millions of records of information, publicly available on the Internet. This project was divided into 3 steps, the first being to create a system that would crawl and extract public record information about people from 1000s of websites on the Internet. The second step was to analyze the collected data for key field information such as persona names, dates, places and event information. The final step was to index this information and link it to existing content on our own website in order to enhance the richness of the data we offer to our own customers.Mundia.com Team: Lead a team of engineers to create www.mundia.com. A family social networking website for linking people to their family members. Lead scrum meetings, utilizing agile development best practices.R&D Team: Trees Team - Developed proof of concept of a virtual genealogical tree in Silverlight, showing the ability to display more than 20K nodes in a scalable tree diagram format on a rich Internet platform.

Architected and co-developed, “iStream™ Business Management System”, a web-based software application that stream-lined several core business functions into a single, enterprise wide solution targeting small to mid-size businesses. This project required me to meet with several business managers from many different companies to discover common problems in these organizations, and create a software application to address and solve these issues. This internet-based software product addressed the following areas within a business:Accounting (Sarbanes-Oxley & GAAP compliant)Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)Customer Relationship Management (CRM)Material Requirements Planning (MRP)Point of Sale (POS)Inventory TrackingSales, Orders and PurchasingPayroll & other employee management featuresMicrosoft Dynamics IntegrationProduct was designed from the ground up using the following technologies C#, VB.NET, ASP.NET, T-SQL stored procedures and SQL Server 2005/8.Co-architected and co-developed, “TranslatorAssist™”, a windows based software application that doubled the output of any human translator, while improving quality and decreasing costs. Written in C++, this software application used translation memory dictionaries, and the Folio full-text search engine to present translators with several possible translations of the text that they currently were working on. This product was the key technology used to win 1st Place and $40,000 cash in the Utah Entrepreneur Challenge in 2001 and New Venture Championship in 2002. It also went on to become the founding technology used for the founding of LingoTek’s™ Cloud Based Language Translation System.

Lead a team to design and created the company’s flagship product “Gospel Library 2005-06,”. This product was a window’s based product that stored several hundred eBooks on a CD-ROM. These books were all indexed and fully searchable by the customer. Special features such as bookmarks, text highlighting, text linking and an advanced search option made this product very successful in the market place.

Managed a team of 11 developers, responsible for various internal applications and systems to assist in the automated electronic production of millions of genealogy data records and associated images and post this information to the company’s website. Architected and created a window’s based genealogy data viewing application for MyFamily.com called AncestryView™, which sold over a million copies. This application allowed genealogical records from many different sources, along with their associated images to be stored on a CD-ROM and searched by customers.

Worked closely with customers as a consultant to understand their software needs and then designed and implemented applications to solve customer issues and meet customer needs.Developed and designed a system wide – technical documentation system for microchip fabrication systems. Created first of it’s kind application that allowed for hyperlinks to exist in auto-cad files to related electronic documentation files.

Designed & developed iLinx & iLinx Pro, which are superset applications to Open Market’s Folio Views 4.x product. These products led to a one-of-a kind marketing contract with Open Market’s Folio division.Designed & developed complete help desk application which is available commercially and used at over 100 different sitesCreated & designed technology that has led into acquisition discussions for InfoDynamics, Inc.Designed & developed most powerful Folio technology based ActiveX controls available on the market, surpassing Folio’s own ActiveX controls.

Developed unique windows menu system for Asian version of WordPerfect 6.0 for WindowsResponsible for double-byte printing and layout in “tategaki” (vertical writing) for WordPerfect’s flagship application for the Asian markets.Designed & developed “Type-Assist” for WordPerfect 6.0 (English). This product increased typing consistency with fewer keystrokes and is a technology gaining in popularity in today’s word processing applications.Member of research & development committee, responsible for combining 5 multi-byte language resources into single executable application.Germanic Localizer and Developer - Developed 1st of its kind language resource translation system for WordPerfect International division. I was hired as a localizer in WordPerfect’s Germanic division. The process at the time was a very manual process. I independently created the necessary tools to automate the localization process. These tools then became standard tools used by the entire company’s localization efforts.
