To help and assist the head greenkeeper in the day to day running of the golf course. To train and develop team members with varying degree of experiences within greenkeeping ,from apprentices to seasonal workers.

To maintain the golf course to a high standard doing jobs which included hand cutting greens/tees , fairway cutting ,semi rough, strumming ,flymowing, and fertiliser applications on a new build.

I left college and got to do my apprentiship at Newtonmore golf course, where I learnt all the basic techniques. My duties included raking bunkers,cutting greens,flymowing,cutting tees. After 2 years I got invited to take up the position of first assistant to the head greenkeeper, where I got to learn some management skills. I got to organise jobs for our small team, and also pass on some of my knowledge to various seasonals . We also designed and constructed various tees ranging in size, and look, using different type of stone for various effects and sometimes even railway sleepers to change levels on certain tee complexes.
