As an accredited Communications Data Investigator, I work within the Serious Crime Division to assist both Officers and Staff in the acquisition of communications data, in relation to telecommunications, postal and internet enquiries whilst ensuring compliance with the Investigatory Powers Act (IPA) 2016.My role includes assisting in the development information technology and working practices within the unit and the telecommunications, internet and postal industries as a major contribution to the intelligence product at all levels in line with the National Intelligence Model (NIM).I liaise with Senior Investigating Officers (SIO) to assist in the development of strategies on major incidents in respect of telephony and other communications issues, ensuring a directed and cost-effective approach.I provide and assist SIO’s with a strategic assessment and take responsibility for data acquisition relating to dynamic enquiries and ‘Crimes In Action'.In the role, I manage, quality assure and maintain a central record for the Force IPA applications and subsequent reviews, renewals and cancellations.I also provide inputs as a subject matter expert to all our customers in relation to the European Convention for Human Rights (ECHR), data protection, IPA 2016, and associated legislation, providing an insight into the service we provide in respect of investigations, and intelligence gathering around telephony, Internet and postal services.Another aspect of my role is to ensure that the Communications Data Investigation Unit maintains a communications data software system that is both accurate and auditable to ensure compliance with the Data Protection Act, and the recommendations of the Investigatory Powers Commissioner's Office (IPCO).

I perform safe operation of the LRV both in and out of service. This includes ensuring the correct setup on the Train Management System and then to constantly observe the track signals and PPIs to ensure the routes are correct for the duty assigned.I adhere to the company rule book, and regulations.I observe the state of the track and overhead line equipment to ensure there are no defects, and reporting any such findings to the Network Management Centre.I diagnose any initial faults that may arise on the LRV.I follow any communications given by the Network Management Centre, including referring to the Disaster Management Plan.

I assisted the Custody Sergeant with the booking in of prisoners by searching the prisoners and assisting to record personal property.I was responsible for taking biometric samples including fingerprints, DNA, photographs, drug tests and when conducting drink driver procedures, breath samples.I would restrain, as required, any violent and aggressive prisoners.I would also arrange legal representation or medical attention as requested, and to accompany Independent Custody Visitors during their attendance at the station.I performed administration duties such as recording every interaction with the prisoner onto the electronic detention log.I would also assist in any charges that come through for the prisoners by typing these up with the correct criminal justice reference ready for the officer in the case to then legally charge the prisoner.Then, I would arrange court or prison transfers as required.

• I held the position of Force Identity Registrar in relation to Identity Access Management. This was a new role and so I was involved in the initial force meetings to implement the role of the registrar, including the process in which officers would have to apply for access before the request documentation came to myself for review.• To monitor the force email quarantine system. I would monitor the emails coming in and out of the ITnetwork and take any action that was required, either releasing, deleting or saving the emails and speaking with individuals as per force policy.• To monitor force wide and individual internet usage. I would compile reports on individual usage asrequested by Professional Standards, extracting data for the reporting software and then compiling it into charts and graphs. I would then be on hand to provide any further information or data explanation which may then be used in disciplinary meetings.• To ensure all authorised remote connections onto the GMP IT network were successful. I was furtherresponsible for running the project to replace the hardware tokens, this would usually be around 800 a year.• To enable force training accounts for a restricted time period.• To monitor and arrange removal as required of contractor accounts, via liaison with Force Vetting Unit.• I was the representative on the Branch Health and Safety committee.• To report on team key performance indicators to the branch.• To log completed physical site surveys conducted by the Information Security Officer.

Responsibilities• To arrange for all the teams of the newly formed Information Management Branch to be transferred to the new BranchHQ office. This included the arrangement of new furniture from procurement and facilities, and the transportation of allthe IT equipment and all paper files.• To act as the first point of contact to office visitors, and arrange parking as required. I also would assist in diarymanagement for managers of Information Security, Information Governance, Information Improvement, Property andRecords Management, and for my line manager who was the Branch Commander for the newly formed InformationManagement Branch.• To assist the Information Security Team by monitoring their quarantined email system administration• To assist the Data Protection Officers by assisting to file subject access requests, freedom of information requests andinformation sharing agreements.• To assist the Property and Records Management manager as an administrator on the force property managementsystem, and to accompany on force wide property office visits. This property was in relation to property seized byofficers from crime scenes and all other arrests.• To assist the Information Improvement Manager by monitoring which officers in the team were looking at what recordson PNC to ensure policies were followed.• To attend Branch Health and Safety meetings.
