One of two lead lobbyists for the industrial hemp bill in the South Dakota Legislature. I prepared speeches, negotiated with interested parties, coordinated testimonies in committee, and did everything I could to get lawmakers to back the passage of industrial hemp, a billion dollar industry. Ultimately, we passed the bill but were met by a Governor veto, which we overrode in the House and came one vote short of overriding in the Senate.
