Craig started in the emergency field as Structural Fire-fighter, First Medical Responder, Heavy Duty Rescue and HAZMAT personnel. He quickly moved into Lieutenant, Captain and Training Officer roles for the local Fire Department. As Craig’s career progressed, he transitioned to the Wildfire Management Branch with the Ministry of Forests. He started as Fire Fighter and advanced to Crew Leader positions for both the Initial Attack and the Unit Crew. With several hours on the fireline and courses completed, he obtained his Incident Command 400 and became a Certified Task Force Leader and Strike Team Leader. Craig is a certified Instructor for the Ministry of Forests and continues to instruct for local Fire Departments, First Nation Groups, Contract Crews, Governing Agencies and local businesses. He has extensive knowledge working with helicopters and Medivac Operations.Craig enjoys working closely with Indigenous leaders, industry professionals, and community members to identify ways to support and encourage sustainable economic development for British Columbia’s communities. Craig’s outgoing personality helped to acquire project work within the community. He has worked for non-profit associations including the Allan Brooks Nature Center, British Columbia Snowmobile Federation, Vernon Snowmobile Association, High Rim Trail and Vernon Seed Farms. As an active community member, he has been the Event Coordinator for the BC Provincial Snow Show, Sledgehammers/Sicamous Family Fun Day, and other family events. Proceeds from admission to the Snow Show go the Easter Seals Camp for Kids. Craig is very honoured to be part of the Timmies Telethon every year.
