Engaged by a mid-tier Iron Ore miner, and presenting findings to the C-suite leadership team I conducted an options study into automation and advised on negotiations with OEM suppliers for fleet replacement.

Engaged by to work with a Mid-Tier West Australian Iron Ore and located at their Perth Airport based head office I assisted in optimising the capital and operational costs for the technology portfolio. This included:• Developing a new standard for business cases within the host organisation• Conducting a review of data strategy and platforms to shift focus from a technology-centric view to a customer-centric view • Introduced, and coached existing teams in the development and use of the concept of operations documents and systems engineering approaches to articulate value to, and align stakeholders• Leading the organisation’s technology response to COVID-19 by delivering a new unified communication and collaboration experience within 6 weeks.

Wilson Group are a $3B diversified services company operating in more than 5 countries. In this role I was responsible for the rectification & remediation of a core business applications ERP (Microsoft AX) that was experiencing low availability and impacting core business processes. In this role I:• Led an investigation process to identify & mitigate root causes• Coached support and operational staff in problem-solving approaches, and stakeholder management• Provided reporting to senior stakeholders within the business (GM’s, CFO, CTO, and Board Members)

Based at Rio Tinto’s Remote Operations Centre (ROC) this role held responsibility for governance and strategy for all telecommunications infrastructure to support Rio Tinto’s Pilbara operations. This required consultation and communication with a diverse group of stakeholders across the business (from CFO & MD level down to supervisors and operators). In this role I:• Chaired the Productions Telecommunications Strategic Forum to ensure effective governance was in place to align production telecommunications with the organisational goals.• Was responsible for portfolio management (planning, forecasting, prioritisation, & recommendation to DFA approvers) of capital funds to support sustaining and strategic projects• Developed and implemented an agile systems engineering approach that reduced project failure rates by 70%. • Improved the operational performance of Autonomous Haulage Systems (AHS) through the deployment of next-generation networks and improving network availability• Successfully introduction of Change Management & other fundamental ITIL processes to operational technology support functions

Recruited as Principal Advisor to commercialise and implement Rio Tinto’s Automation Vision and initially based at Rio Tinto’s R&D centre in Melbourne. I led a team that developed Rio Tinto’s autonomous drilling system (ADS) and provided independent Technology Readiness Level (TRL) and safety assessments for several other automation projects, including AHS & Auto-haul (rail).In this role, I worked closely with equipment & technology vendors and Rio Tinto's procurement functions across the globe to develop standards and ensure mining equipment could support Rio Tinto’s “To-Be” vision of Mine Automation. This involved developing and ensuring alignment with relevant Intellectual Property (IP) management plans, identifying opportunities to improve quality and reduce the cost of automated platforms, and integrating and sharing learnings across the business (coal, copper, aluminium, boron, & iron ore).

The Australian Centre for Field Robotics is a world leading applied robotics research group and at the time was the largest outdoor field robotics groups in the world.Senior Engineer (Electrical and Electronic Systems): 2009 – 2011As Senior Engineer was tasked with the management of the Field Lab Facility to develop processes and workflows to allow for successful industry engagement and innovative project completion. This included the management of engineering and technical staff to design, build, commission and support the experimental apparatus used by researchers, Senior /Technical Officer: 2005 – 2011In this initial role as Technical Officer I was challenged to develop world first systems and support structures ensuring research objectives were met and apparatus were sufficiently robust to perform field and industry demonstrations.
