My focus at Washington Mutual was on engineering, building, and operating web acceleration services using network devices, with a focus on load balancers, cache appliances, SSL encryption, and secure firewall traffic flows.I built load balancer solutions for internal and external customers. I provided application and network troubleshooting help as needed.

After layoffs at Tenzing I became the team leader for a small but nimble group of system administrators and an Oracle DBA. My duties included (in addition to administration technical responsibilities) day to day management of the team, work load prioritization, and Tenzing product management.

I held several positions in the infrastructure group of Amazon.com, including Administrator, Lead, and Senior. Supported services ran the range from development environment support, network attached storage, web servers, backup services, and large scale storage solutions and included hardware design, procurement, and setup to operating system, third-party.

I was instrumental in building a full service ISP up from the ground up: hardware installation, network design, terminal server setup and installation. Maintained all server software and automation scripts allowing one sysadmin to support the entire site of 800 dial-in users and 80 corporate web sites.

Responsible for all aspects of server hardware and software in support of Group Health's internet and intranet strategies.
