Provided strategic leadership in overseeing direct services provided through Service to the Armed Forces (SAF) program and International Services (IS) program. Oversaw programs and services provided to individuals through entirety of their military life, which included outreach to service members and families at local Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS), dispatching communications regarding confirmed home emergencies to military commands for leave consideration, providing access to emergency financial assistance for active duty service members and military retirees, referring service members and veterans to community resources, providing outreach during deployment and veteran-specific events, and providing voluntary support to VA and military hospitals.Reviewed military cases initiated within region and ranked to determine those requiring immediate action; assigned caseworkers to perform follow-up. Maintained strong relationships with military and veteran communities, as well as support organizations. Met and worked with regional CEO and other regional program directors to foster collaboration between departments and gain information on Red Cross offerings relevant to external partner services, service members and veterans, and families. Supervised AmeriCorps members, college interns, and volunteers that performed casework, outreach, and disaster preparedness training. Updated Board on service delivery and provided engagement opportunities to participate with SAF activities to ensure understanding of SAF’s role within community.* Contributed to creation of cadre of virtual volunteer caseworkers for national call centers. Recognized by division and national headquarters (NHQ) as subject matter expert (SME) on casework. Selected as 1 of 10 to participate in week-long session with NHQ staff to determine project’s feasibility.

Established and managed outreach relationships, transitioning department from reactive to more proactive strategy. Presided over 26-county area in role that began as 20-hour part-time role with accountability for 4-county area. Maintained presence at deployment events, with area of coverage growing to 46 counties and program reaching approximately 14,000 people in single year. Forged local collaborations with Military OneSource, Ohio National Guard’s Family Programs, and Ohio Army Survivor Outreach Services program. Entrusted to facilitate 4 of Ohio National Guard’s quarterly state level Inter-Service Family Assistance Committee (ISFAC) meetings, serve as master of ceremonies for 2017 Armed Forces Day Luncheon, and contribute as last-minute substitute as master of ceremonies for 2019 Wreaths Across America ceremonial wreath laying at Ohio Statehouse.

Oversaw casework for Disaster Services, Armed Forces Emergency Services (later renamed Service to the Armed Forces), and International Services programs within Onondaga and Oswego counties in New York state. Performed outreach into military/veteran community.* Participated in several local disaster responses, as well as 2003 national disaster response in West Virginia following flooding of Ohio River.

Oversaw CPR and First Aid training for communities within Onondaga and Oswego counties in New York state. Secured training locations within community, supplied training material, staffed courses with instructors, ensured course registration, and recorded trainings.* Participated in several local large disaster responses.* Served as nighttime facility manager at last Red Cross facility at Ground Zero during national disaster response in New York City.
