This was a contract role for part of the Morson Group (turnover £750m pa). The business realised that they needed to review their DR strategy and infrastructure surrounding this. It was my role to analyse the infrastructure, make recommendation and create a DR strategy for the firm going forward. Following board approval for the new strategy and associated spend I project managed the work to replace the current IT infrastructure for both Morson International and Morson Projects to a flexpod solution (netapp / Cisco) plus managed the peripherals surrounding this including power and WAN provision. The Morson Group now have an ‘always on’ IT infrastructure with full failover provision

In April 2003 I was given the added responsibility of Applications Manager for the MS Office range of products in use by Hammonds, the role came about due the IT department move to a more ITIL orientated strategy. With this role I had the following added following responsibilities:• Follow MS Office applications through their application lifecycle• Find ways of improving these products for the business• Ultimate support for these products for local Desktop teamsThe majority of this role involves meeting and talking with people of all business levels to discuss their requirements and how we can best provide these wherever possible.

This role was for the Manchester and Paris offices, combined having a user base of over 300. To begin I had a team of 2 but was later increased to 3 due to extra commitments. My main responsibilities were:• Manage the helpdesk and also staff rota.• Keep the team motivated.• Act as third line support as Manchester does not have a technical department.• Ensure SLA’s are met.• Produce statistics.• Meet and talk with partners about their IT requirements.• Look at new technologies.
