About Shaun Whitehead
Welcome to the my world – creative engineer, adventurer, artist, presenter, author and entrepreneur!My professional archaeological and space exploration technology work is carried out within my small company, Scoutek Ltd. Since Scoutek and I are very much intertwined, the Scoutek projects are incorporated into these pages, to make everything easy for you to discover.As a child, I dreamed of becoming an astronaut and exploring space. It seemed that the only way to achieve this dream was to design and build my own rocket. With a completed design, I applied to companies for sponsorship, and I will not forget the kindness of those who responded to a 10 year old wannabe spaceman, even though they decided not to provide funding! I persevered and have since been involved in many space and other engineering successes.I am still motivated by my childhood passion to explore and discover new things, helped by some amazing technology. My work has taken me to the four corners of the world, where I have watched things I have built go hurtling off to deep space and Mars, and crawled along dark stone passageways in search of historical finds.I am a qualified Chartered Engineer and a Fellow and Ambassador of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. I have experimented using science and engineering to fight crime, combined engineering and art, I appear regularly in the media and give presentations on engineering and exploration.I have found (and hidden) many treasures, hold a pilots licence and have military experience. More recently, I have created new game concepts that will revolutionise social interaction and marketing.I believe that success is not as much about natural talent as saying “yes” to opportunities, and perhaps more importantly, perseverance.
